Why I Don’t Offer Omega 3 Supps

…Simply because there are no good ones.

Summation:
-I do use them
-I can’t find a decent one
-Reducing Omega 6 is more important to me
-Off-topic tangent on snack oil misery
-Let me know if there’s a good one

“Yes,” I take an omega 3. I get definite results from it.

But I have to settle for the kind I get. I have searched, and searched and searched, and cannot find one that meets the standards I demand for my supplements; basic things like no additives, a capsule I agree with, clean, etc.

For the record:

If you’re interested in taking omega 3’s for the most common reasons, relating to inflammation, it is my firm opinion that the route that should be taken FIRST is to reduce the omega 6’s in the diet way down.

I do not try to compensate for my omega 6 consumption by taking omega 3’s.

My research shows it wouldn’t and does not work.

And…unfortunately…look at the oils being used in most snack foods. That 20% of my diet does allow for some weekend snacks like pretzils and corn chips being among them.

But “wow” are so many of these snacks loaded with high-inflammatory, high omega-6 oils.  It is SO frustrating.

They meet my low-ingredient ideals, seemingly great snacks while forgiving the refined flours, sea salt, (I prefer Himalayan), and darn oils…until ya read exactly what oils they’re using (often with the “this oil AND/OR that oil,” almost as if to suggest “we’re gonna use this horrible oil but we MIGHT use a less horrible oil if it makes ya feel better” kinda thing).

Some of the oils they’re using sound healthy to most people, but in reality are high, sometimes REALLY high, in omega 6’s and 9’s.

Boy does it ever piss me off.

The “organic” label doesn’t make me feel any better. Do they think I’m stupid?

“Yeah, we’re using a highly inflammatory oil to make our chips, but oh look!…It’s organic!”

“AND we’re using sea salt that may or may not have microplastics in it and some heavy metals here and there…”

(sigh)

Anyway…the tangent master continues:

Hey, I’m all ears on this. If YOU know of a good omega 3 supp, DO let me know.  Plant based would be preferred, altho those are the trickiest of all.

But after spending countless hours…for years now…trying to find one that is bioavailable and meets the clean standards you’ve seen me discuss on this site, I’m not holding my (currently iodine-scented) breath.
